How to remove them from the jar without tearing: Open jar and turn upside down over a large bowl (the brine will drain). Shake jar in a downward motion until the grape leaves start to protrude from the jar, then grab them (all together) with one hand and carefully pull them out as one “package.” Unroll them, and take out the leaves that you need. Roll up the rest, put them back in the jar, cover with the decanted liquid and refrigerate.
There are a myriad of recipes for grape leaves. Most famously, they are used to make the traditional appetizer or small dish called dolmas – grape leaves stuffed with seasoned rice. They are also great for lining cheese, shrimp or antipasto platters.
